Description
The Frontier XXL is the cutting board the kitchen builds itself around. This is the Relief Edition: a Faith Hope Love board with the words set into the surface in maple inlay, cut and finished flush so the kitchen sees them every day.
First, the build. I cut every Faith Hope Love board on a Frontier XXL chassis — acacia end grain, 22 inches by 16, an inch and a half thick. Because end grain construction sets vertical wood fibres up to meet the blade, the surface takes years of daily use without scarring. As a result, this is the surface a serious kitchen builds around. It earns its place at the centre of the counter and stays there.
What makes a Faith Hope Love board different
The inlay isn’t decoration. Most importantly, the three words read together as the philosophy of the room — the verse by the door, set into the same surface where the family eats. Meanwhile, the maple inlay sits flush with the acacia and finishes in the same oil, so the prep face stays one continuous working surface. Either way you use the board, the words travel with it.
How to use one
Twenty-two by sixteen is the holiday-roast size. So when the bird comes off the grill or the prime rib rests, the Frontier XXL is the surface that holds it. Either way, the inlay reads from across the room. Afterwards, mineral oil and beeswax bring the acacia back to its full depth in a few minutes.
Care, custom work, and shipping
First, wash with warm soapy water and dry flat. Second, never let the board soak. Finally, condition with butcher block oil monthly — acacia is dense, but end grain absorbs more than edge grain. Other phrases cut on request: family names, dates, verses. Ships from Virden, Manitoba via Canada Post with tracking, typically arriving in 1–2 weeks across Canada and 2–3 weeks to the US.
