Description
A 3D-carved Last Supper wall art piece in solid black walnut, cut from a single blank and finished without paint or stain. Eleven inches by eight, half an inch thick, ready to hang the day it arrives.
First, the wood does the work. Black walnut is dark, fine-grained, and takes carved detail without flaking or fuzzing. As a result, the figures hold their definition for decades, not years. I finish the relief with a natural oil that lets the wood deepen over time rather than hide it behind a coating. The depth you see when it ships is the starting point, not the destination.
Why Last Supper wall art in walnut
Most carved Last Supper wall art pieces are painted resin or printed canvas. This one is solid walnut, hand-finished. Because the relief reads through grain and shadow rather than pigment, the carving deepens with the wood. Meanwhile, the shadows in the figures settle into the natural figure of this particular blank — a pattern that exists nowhere else. So while the CNC pattern can be cut again, the figure of this particular walnut cannot.
Where to hang it
Sized for a wall above a sideboard, a mantel, or a quiet corner where a piece can hold the room. Not enormous, not tiny — the size a hand-carved relief should be to read across a room without dominating it. Either way you hang it, the relief catches afternoon light from a low angle and the shadows shift through the day. The figures get easier to read as the room warms.
Care, custom work, and shipping
First, dust the surface with a soft dry cloth. Second, avoid direct sunlight on the same face for years on end. Finally, a light wipe of furniture wax once a year keeps the walnut deepening. Other woods carved on request: cherry, maple, ash. Ships from Virden, Manitoba via Canada Post with tracking, wrapped flat in a rigid box, typically arriving in 1–2 weeks across Canada and 2–3 weeks to the US.
