Description

The chopcuterie board. Half cleaver, half charcuterie plank — all character.

The body is Manitoba Maple — Acer negundo, the soft maple that grows along the prairie shelterbelts. Most people walk past it. The ones who know stop and look. Wild figure, warm cream and amber, the kind of grain that has stories in it. One natural void on this piece, filled and stabilized with black epoxy — kept, not hidden.

The handle is walnut, hand-shaped to the cleaver silhouette and joined into a half-round tenon. Two woods. One piece.

Serving surface is 11.5″ by 7.5″ — enough for a small spread of meats, a wedge of brie, a handful of grapes. The handle takes it to 18.5″ overall, which makes it carry well and hang nicely on the wall when it isn’t working.

One of one. The shape can be cut again. The grain in this piece cannot.
