Last updated: May 31, 2026. This page explains what personal information Northern Prairie Woodworks collects, how it’s used, and what your rights are under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Who We Are
Northern Prairie Woodworks is a sole proprietorship in Virden, Manitoba, Canada. The site is operated and the data described below is controlled by Jonathan Paddison. Privacy questions can be sent to info@northernprairiewoodworks.ca.
What We Collect
When you place an order: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address, and phone number (if provided). Payment card details are handled directly by Stripe and Affirm — we do not see or store full card numbers.
When you contact us via email or a contact form: the information you choose to send, including your message contents and any attachments.
When you browse the site: standard analytics data such as the pages you visit, how long you stay, your approximate location (city/region from IP), your device type, and how you arrived (search query, referring site, ad click). This is collected through Google Analytics 4 and the Meta Pixel.
Why We Collect It
- To process and ship your order, and to contact you about it if needed.
- To respond to questions and provide customer support.
- To understand how the site is used so we can improve it.
- To measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts.
- To meet record-keeping requirements (tax, accounting, warranty).
Who We Share It With
We use third-party service providers to operate the site and fulfill orders. Each receives only the information they need to do their job:
- Stripe and Affirm — payment processing.
- Canada Post — shipping (name and shipping address).
- Google — analytics (anonymized traffic data) and Google Ads conversion tracking.
- Meta (Facebook/Instagram) — pixel-based conversion tracking and product catalog sync. Hashed customer data may be sent for advertising attribution if you’ve opted in to that during checkout.
- GoDaddy — site hosting.
- Email service provider — order confirmations and customer-service correspondence.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Cookies and Tracking
This site uses cookies for: keeping your shopping cart contents between visits, remembering your preferences, and the analytics/advertising trackers described above. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some functionality (such as the cart) won’t work without them.
Data Retention
Order records (including customer name, email, address, and order contents) are retained for a minimum of seven years to meet Canadian tax and accounting requirements. Analytics data is retained for 14 months (Google Analytics default) and 180 days (Meta Pixel default). Contact-form correspondence is retained as long as it remains useful for customer support.
Your Rights
Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that’s inaccurate or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information that’s no longer required for the purpose it was collected (subject to legal record-keeping obligations).
- Withdraw consent for non-essential uses (such as marketing communications) at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@northernprairiewoodworks.ca. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Security
The site uses HTTPS encryption. Payment data is handled by PCI-compliant providers (Stripe and Affirm) and never touches our servers in full. Account passwords (if you create a customer account) are stored as one-way hashes — even we can’t read them.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the site, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to This Policy
This policy may be updated when we add or change services, third-party providers, or data practices. The “last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be announced via a banner on the site for at least 30 days.
Complaints
If you have a privacy concern we haven’t been able to resolve directly, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca.
