 At Northern Prairie Woodworks, each wood species we choose is thoughtfully selected for crafting handmade wood furniture and décor. Our commitment to beauty, sustainability, and craftsmanship ensures every piece of natural wood furniture we create is truly distinctive.


Below are some of the premium hardwoods commonly used in our custom wood furniture and decor, highlighting their unique qualities and characteristics. 

Canadian hardwoods

The grain of black walnut.

 Heartwood ranges from deep chocolate brown to lighter caramel shades, often with stunning purple, grey, or reddish undertones. The sapwood presents a creamy, pale contrast.


Grain: Typically straight, with occasional waves or curls, offering a striking, luxurious appearance.


Notable Feature:  Prized for its rich colour and durability, Black
